Edinburgh Royal Botanic Gardens

The shape of our Thursday has been restored and centred around our visits to Edinburgh.

After delivering Pat to the Scottish Arts Club for her Life Drawing class I drove down to the Royal Botanic Gardens.

The weather has been  brilliant blue skies with bright sunshine. The drive to Edinburgh was a continuous tapestry of autumns colours. So many photo possibilities.

To be in the Gardens was pure joy. The autumn leaves were glowing.

I kid you not today’s photos are quite accurate.

The gardens are place where strangers talk each other. I am often approached and asked about various aspects of the gardens and structures. Is it because I wear a bright yellow Rohan rain jacket, or I always acknowledge the other visitors in the gardens? Perhaps I have developed some sort of ‘guide personna from my NTS volunteering.

Today there was a lot of discussion about the US elections. Of course, there was an air of gloom and despondency especially with visitors from America. What did I think?

Thereafter I came across a group of women who were members of the Beech Tree Society. Another chat about the Beech Hedge in the Gardens and various beech trees. I know something about beech trees having quite a number in our own garden.

The gardens worked their magic and I certainly felt my spirit lifted.

I rendezvoused with Pat and we drove into The Grange for lunch with Mr and Mrs Dog. Pat confirmed the shock of the Life Drawing Class.

We then drove to The Grange for lunch with Mr and Mrs ‘Dog’. Again more shock and disappointment at the result.

As our contribution to the lunch Pat had prepared a cherry pie using frozen cherries rescued from the Anne and Ian’s fridge. Pat has a rather nifty device for pipping cherries.

We then drove home and Pat had quite a number of FaceTime calls with our relations in California.

We never met any ‘Nellie the Elephant’ supporters in our journeys.
