Sydney Sunset
Another interesting day in Sydney. In the morning, amongst other things, we visited Hyde Park Barracks Museum which through a clever audio tour told more stories about the early immigrants to Australia, both transported criminals and later free immigrants.
In the afternoon I did a guided tour of the Opera House. Amongst many interesting facts, is that of the two main auditoria, the largest and main one is dedicated to orchestral concerts and that opera (and ballet) are displaced into the smaller one with a small stage. As a result, they are unable to put on big grand operas with large sets. So no Wagner's Ring cycle, and touring companies sometimes have to scale down their sets.
After an exciting day we retired to the hotel terrace for a drink and watched the sun go down over the adjacent wharf.
