The Power Of The Poppy, East Malling
Haven't felt like posting a blip after the hideous result of the American election - it's so profoundly depressing that an awful human being like that can be elected to such high office in such a way. The majority voted for him and they'll now have to own it and stop "othering" all their so called enemies but I fear they will just double down on everything instead. It was a dark, dark day for the world that someone so despicable has now been given an unfettered free hand.
The weather here has been suitably funereal - cold and grey without a hint of blue sky or sunshine. We just popped out for lunch to the King & Queen in East Malling and opposite the pub was this brilliant display of knitted poppies on a post box and the bus stop behind it. It represents the best of us - the men and women who sacrificed their lives so that we could live our lives free of tyranny and despots. It seems we haven't learnt our lessons from history when we should be listening to those that fought to protect our democracies more intently then ever before.
