Former use

A blip from a bus today on my way in to work. Increasingly signage above shops and offices gets renewed and replaced as a result of takeovers, bankruptcy, retirement. Some of these signs involved large metal letting and all you can see is the plugged holes where the fixings went.

In some cases such as the former grand building that used to house the Clydesdale Bank in Dumfries which I used to visit you can still make out the shading of the lettering on the stonework

My eye was caught by this on the first floor going down Leith Walk. I must have passed this building well over a thousand times over the years but never really noticed the faded paintwork describing the tailor shops below. They made paint to last in those days!
