Holidays! Day five
So, I’ve got a cold, as is usual for me when I’m in air conditioning. So today, after weighing up the many possibilities, we decided on a relaxing Big Bus tour - the longest one, right to Stanley Market on the south coast of Hong Kong Island.
And what a great choice that turned out to be. A very scenic hurtle (all the bus drivers hurtle) right round the island. Beaches, luxury skyscrapered enclaves in choice sunny positions. There were several stops, but we just got off at one - Stanley Market. What a great stop that was.
The car park was away above the beach and the village, to my initial dismay - but they had a succession of escalators leading all the way down (and of course, UP) with several levels of retail.
We had a wander around the market, and it was good - JR could not resist a couple of items. I even got something!
We also had lunch there, in a cafe where we met four Aussies, who are also going on a cruise, but not our one, sadly.
Back to the city, and a taxi back to the hotel (£4). By this time my cold was getting worse - watery eyes, cold head, constant sneezing. So, any plans we had of finding a rooftop cocktail bar with a spectacular view this evening were abandoned. A paracetamol and early bed.
Embarking tomorrow! I hope they’re ready for us.
Not many photo opportunities today, so this is a selection. My breakfast, or the first part anyway - fruit, Yakult, carrot juice, yoghurt, overnight oats. To be followed by fried rice rolls, fried noodles, hash browns and baked beans, then a croissant and coffee. EPIC!
