The view after yesterday
Let us be true to one another,
For the world, which seems
To lie before us like a land of dreams,
So various, so beautiful, so new,
Hath really neither joy, nor love, nor light,
Nor certitude, nor peace, nor help for pain;
And we are here as on a darkling plain
Swept with confused alarms of struggle and flight,
Where ignorant armies clash by night.
Matthew Arnold
This is the blip I posted when that man was elected the first time and my mood is even more despairing today. The damage and destruction that will be done in the next four years, at home and in the larger world, is beyond imagining. What kind of country will Sam and Max and Levi have to grow up in? I grieve for us all.
