Rolling stones gather no moss.
Breafast then got the ingredients together to make mum's lunch later down in CK. Laundry on the line, weather forecast not promising but ever the optimist me.
Walked up to the doctors surgery to make telephone apt for hubby. Waited while the 2 receptionists took calls .. "You can't make dr apts in the surgery you have to go on to our website". I bit my tongue and left the surgery. Saw Stuart in the Coop. He's offered me a load of plants he'd pulled up .. "They're in the wheelbarrow by the garage, take the wheelbarrow if it's easier". I took the wheelbarrow on the way back home. I think it's Helianthus angustifolius going by his description. It's approx 6' tall, yellow daisy, clump forming.
Drove down to Mum's ... front curtains all drawn (together or should that be open) together anyway. Walked around to the kitchen door, there's Mum sat at the dining table colouring in. "Have you had breakfast?" "No, not yet" 2 empty tea plates which have crumbs on them, I can smell toast, so removed plates made Mum coffee, plus blood pressure tab.
Walked Indie. Took pics of the antlers on the deceased deer. I thought a local woodsman might be interested in them for crook handles/thumbsticks. Sent them while sat on the heath.
Back at Mum's a quick coffee, put Mum's lunch ( Stovied chicken) in the oven on low, then we went for a walk around the village. Bumped into a couple of locals that Mum knew which was lovely as they had only asked after her earlier in the morning. Popped a blackcurrant & apple crumble in the oven to bake when we returned. Did my normal checks before leaving Mum eating her pud with a generous dollop pf clotted cream.
Lunch at home.
Started a recipe for One Pot African Curry I'd torn out of a newspaper. Got it all bubbling away in the pan then turned it off. Mowed the lawn. Scrubbed down the front path, then headed to the allotment with the wheelbarrow, veg waste for the compost heap, & grass clippings. It was so still & peaceful up on the plot .. I could have very happily stayed there even though the moors were shrouded in mist. I split the Helianthus made 17 pots ranging from good 3ltr pots to 1ltrs ... Bigger would have been better but I'd run out. 10 pots at £5 a pot that's £50 for the charity already. Getting dimpsy time to head back, I walked back up to Stuarts to return his wheelbarrow, then home. John rang from the pub when could I pick him up. When I collected him he asked me what I had growing on the allotment that he could give his friends ... "Just write a list down & I'll show them" I explained this is the wrong time of year for lists, lists of any kind, especially today.
Watched ROHofG, finished making dinner. Dropped off watching GBBO.
There was a very heated discussion started at lunchtime which became a full blown argument just before dinner .... Basically comparing my care ratio. "Sometimes I have to make my own lunch". Enough said!
