You're not my mom!
I was determined NOT to blip another dragonfly today, even though it is very tempting this time of year to go deep with dragons. But, I thought a little variety would be good. So, the initial plan was to blip a hummingbird, dancing in the garden.
Then Brood Two of the house finches showed up and Little Trudi showed a remarkable lack of restraint at the feeders, ultimately jumping on dad's head when things didn't go fast enough with the feeding! Doesn't bode well for when she starts dating, does it?
That plan derailed when I went for my walk this afternoon and sighted my first Cicada Killer Wasp of the season - a most cool and enormous wasp! I even got to watch one excavating her nest burrow which was totally fascinating. Then, I was able to get a shot of a Tailed Blue Butterfly, with wings spread which was a first! Jeez, already things were getting tough!
Everywhere I turned on my walk, there were spectacular swallowtail butterflies! The wild monarda is in full bloom and it is like crack for butterflies. Then, I got the shock of my life when I actually spotted a brown praying mantis - at least that is what I think it is. Damn it - wrong lens so had to do this with Big Daddy, not ideal.
Oh, and did I mention that there were dragons everywhere I turned? Yep, dragons in the flowers, dragons in the ponds, dragons in the fields ...
So, I headed home, already sensing a huge dilemma. What to blip? But when I turned onto the road we live on, I spotted a doe at the edge of the woods ... and wait...is that a fawn right behind her??? Why, yes indeed! And I can't ever resist a fawn, can you?
So, meet Spot.
By the way, Brunhilda (hey, did you really think I wasn't going to name the spider???) is still in the flower patch, guarding her bazillion little spiderlings.
Hoping you are all having a grand Hump Day!
xxoo
