Winners

Today I after walking Django I went into the office, where I had the place to myself for once, except for a supervision meeting with my undergraduate project student. I also had a visit from an Operational Research MSc student from two years ago who would never have been admitted without my pressure on the College, yet he was one of two Edinburgh finalists in the OR Society's MSc dissertation award. He's doing well and was great to talk to.

After work I walked into the city centre for dinner with the HiGHS team - the first time they've ever been in the same place at the same time. The food was good, and we had fun winning the restaurant's "pub quiz". Perhaps we should have done, as there were only five teams, and were (left to right) British, Italian, Chinese, Bulgarian/British and US/Canadian/British. We won a £50 note that, appropriately for a team of computational mathematicians, has Alan Turing on it!
