Now, as I see it......

Bonfire Night

How times have changed.  There seems precious little evidence of any celebrations going on locally for 5th November; no 'penny for the guy', no firework displays that I'm aware of, and no bonfires.  How different it was when I was a child when Halloween was a minor event preparing for the big day on 5th.  We'd have a huge bonfire, loads of fireworks and plenty of baked potatoes, sausages and other treats.  Even when family events became more rare there was always a big display on somewhere.  As far as I'm aware, there's nothing locally.

We had a wander into town this morning where I managed to find some frames that I liked so my new glasses are on order, and should be with me in 7-10 days.  Somehow I managed to find the most expensive pair of glasses I've ever had, but W approves.  We also called at the greengrocers who had these Christmas wreaths on sale at a very reasonable price.  Too early to put it up yet but as W has had to pull out of a Christmas Wreath making workshop, we thought we'd get one while they still have them.
