Tiny Tuesday - Macro Technique

I always think shooting images of cacti is a great test of your macro technique so I thought I would compare a straight shot with that of a photo stack of five images. I initially focussed by moving the camera back and forward until I got a reasonable focus and then micro adjusted using the camera's autofocus and then locked my tripod. I was careful to align the plane of focus with that of the cactus. I then did a single shot at f22 to get maximum depth of field and followed it with a focus bracket of five images. Looking at it initially I could not see any difference but then I zoomed in on both of the images and found the focus stack to be a lot sharper in some areas of the image. You can check this out as my blip is the focus stack and my extra the initial straight image
