Peterheid

Finished off Slocum's famous account of his sail around the world and I was particularly taken by his praise of Montevideo, which apparently boasts of (or boasted of) fine mansions, comely women, liberal schools, and a cemetery of great splendour.
This is a fine checklist to use when evaluating a port of call. I fear Peterheid may not score too highly, though as we haven't ventured beyond the marina fences I may be doing the place an injustice. Even the boats in the place could hardly be described as comely. In fact it's like a cemetery for boats. And not very splendiferous, either. Though, to be fair, the showers were grand.
