And just like that, he’s not a kid any more
Up reasonably early to find that Ottawacker Jr.’s U14s call-up game had been cancelled due to a power outage at the RA Centre. Eminently fixable, it appears, but not until noon. The 11am game was thus called off, meaning the paramilitary-style planning we had undertaken to fit in the various appointments we had was all in vain. It did, however, mean that I got to be the good father at no cost to myself, as I was sacrificing the Liverpool game to go and watch the plum of my loins play. For the first half of the game, I’d almost rather not bothered, as Liverpool put in another performance worthy of Manchester United – trailing 1-0 to a very good Brighton side. Thankfully, however, we managed to turn it around in the second half, dominating and playing well to win 2-1.
Before this, I’d rushed off to get a haircut. This is getting ridiculous now – I am on a six-week cycle. Maybe it is time to let it grow again and then go for an appointment in Malaga some time in 2027. Speaking of Malaga, been in touch with some friends over there and it appears that the DANA spread further than the Valencia region, and that there had been a death near to Malaga too. These events are getting worse and worse – and still we sit on our hands pretending there is (a) nothing wrong and (b) there is nothing we can do about it. I read that one of the more significant contributors was the data warehouse – the “new oil”, claimed the Guardian. I am as bad as the next person – we’re all jetting off to Portugal for a couple of weeks. There has to be an answer – even if it is draconian.
Ottawacker Jr. had an afternoon session of football training – which ended up being an afternoon session of football training plus a visit to St. Laurent Mall with the people bringing him back, plus dinner at the mal restaurant. I have the feeling he’ll have hit puberty by the time I see him next. And talking of which, two girls called round for him while he was out… I am not sure I am ready for this.
Mrs. Ottawacker put her foot down and made us watch My Big Fat Greek Wedding again in the evening. I am sure there is something cryptic about that choice.
