inkface's year

a sad day

We heard early this morning that Mr I’s eldest sister, Jean, had died peacefully in the night. She’d been in a care home for a few years suffering from dementia but she was happy and enjoying life. Last week though she caught a chest infection and went downhill very quickly. I picked these bright roses from the garden for her today. I remember her as being kind, funny, a lover of clothes and shoes, with a wonderful fun personality. She used to drive a big Range Rover, smoked many cigarettes, had a horse called Major who only ever let her ride him, and enjoyed many gin and tonics. And on one occasion she ‘escaped’ from the care home… A lovely lady.
