New Zealand Dabchick
We went up to Queen Elizabeth II Park yesterday to see if we could see the resident pair of NZ Dabchick who reportedly had chicks. These birds are like a Grebe and their young usually travel on their backs while swimming (for the first 2-4 weeks). The young weren't seen by us, but we did see the parents. They were doing a type of ritual to one another so guessing they will be nesting again soon.
