Halloween. I hate it.
Managed to do very little. Ottawacker Jr. went out with his friend Caelan, going first to Caelan’s house for dinner, then off out to visit all the people in his neighbourhood first. “They’re more generous over there,” he said. It actually wasn’t bad that he was out for once, as it allowed Mrs. Ottawacker and I to talk about her dad, and to let a few people know. It also helped to build up to telling Ottawacker Jr. that the Benfica tickets hadn’t come through. They’re playing Porto while we are in Lisbon and I guess the tickets are going like hot potatoes.
Mrs. Ottawacker and I sat on the front step this Halloween – it was 21º, which is insane – and fielded a constant stream of trick or treaters, and neighbours. It wasn’t actually as bad as I make out, and by the time the chocolates and crisps had run out, the stream had basically dried up.
