Eyeshine

Ms Bared Owl was apparently just finishing up her bath in our bog when I noticed all of her splashing. By the time I got my camera she had flown up to 'her' perch above the pond and was busy preening her wet self. Knowing that there must be an explanation for this phenomenon, I dug in a little deeper...first I found this:
AI Overview: " Owl eyes may appear blue in a photo due to the presence of a flash of 'eyeshine', which is a characteristic of nocturnal animals."

Eyeshine
As usual, I'm amazed at what I learn each and every day about the natural world all around us.
Wishing All of Us A Very Peaceful Week! ❤️m
