Travelling backwards very fast
Out of the window you can see the flatlands of south Lincolnshire, a bit misty, a bit flooded. Surprisingly clear considering we are probably going about 100mph. The train takes 1 1/4 hours to get me to Kings Cross.
I get home at noon, and my son picks me up from the station. He has about an hour before he has to head off home - so we go to a cafe around the corner from my house, and have a delicious lunch, including a dessert (a really rare treat for me). We are joined by his friend J, another dj, based in Bristol. They’re doing a production project together, so J is going down to Plymouth too. He’s a lovely young person and it’s a pleasure to meet him.
I’m pretty tired after 3 days of talking and activity. I try a 30 minute nap, and for the first time ever it works and I feel refreshed and able to keep going.
In the evening we watch the Friday night film club film - Cary Grant, Katherine Hepburn in Sylvia Scarlett made in 1935. It’s certainly interesting, KH dresses as a boy for most of the story - in order to escape from the police, not for reasons of identity. I can’t honestly recommend you go out of your way to watch it though:)
