Breakdown

A mere twenty minutes after we all stood on stage soaking up the applause from our last night audience and the set is rapidly being disassembled. Less than two hours after the show finished, everything had been whisked away into storage and the final mopping of the empty stage was being undertaken. A great team effort, involving not just the technical crew but many of the cast as well. As the old cliche says - teamwork makes the dream work!
I came to this show very late in the process, due to other commitments, but by the end of the second night it felt like I’d been doing it for ages. Everything just seemed to gel, thanks to everybody working together, and those last three performances were really enjoyable. Despite only having a few lines, I had the privilege of being on stage for the last number (so I could take a bow with the others) and it was great to see the warmth of the audience reaction. We even had them all on their feet for the last two performances. Though, in the interests of full disclosure, I should say that the last song is called “Stand Up” and we were actively encouraging the audience to do just that.
Does it still count as a standing ovation if you instigate it from the stage?
