Knitted Millom
A grey day which started in darkness as our grandson woke at 05:30 and I was on monitor watch. We had a lovely time playing and sorting picture cards and having breakfast. By mid-morning I was ready for a nap. He had one while I pushed the pram for a couple of miles!
The weather showed no signs of improving so we waited until after lunch to go out. We visited the nearby town of Millom for a look around. It felt almost deserted despite being a Saturday afternoon. A brief stroll around took us past the Clock Tower in the main square, bedecked with knitted poppies. Then, on the opposite side of the square, on the post box the tower - and poppies - were replicated.
We then headed to Haverigg beach for a short walk and then to Silecroft beach for a much longer one. The latter is a very impressive strand running up the coast. Shame it was not sunnier but we still had a good time.
An early dinner for us all and hopefully a longer night’s sleep.
