Gaia

I had a meeting in London today at the Rolls Building, which is part of the Royal Courts of Justice Group, albeit in a much newer building off nearby Fetter Lane. The extra is a street scene looking down Fleet Street from outside St Clement Dane Church with the RCJ on the left. After the meeting I took a bus to St Paul's Cathedral, walked across the Millennium Bridge (formerly known as the wobbly bridge) and then along the Embankment to Southwark Cathedral where Gaia, a scale model of our beautiful but much abused planet, is on display. Having seen the same artist's installation of the Moon at Southwell Minster recently, I had to complete the set. I didn't find it quite as mystical an experience as the Moon probably because Southwell Minster on a Monday morning was a quieter setting and the music soundtrack and audio clips that accompanied the stark and cloudless lunar landscape made for a more mystical and other-worldly atmosphere.  Much of the time I spent looking at the Earth was taken up in trying to work out what lands lay beneath the swirling clouds and in appreciating just how much of our planet is filled with ocean.
