Thriving
Another horrible dark and grey day.. no rain so no complaints (I suppose)
A quick trip to the post office was slowed down due to a Christmas Fayre which blocked up the whole village so had to make a longer journey to a different post office to drop it off. A village coffee morning that himself visited briefly but was too late and most folk had already disappeared home again. This afternoon has been spent bringing in a lot of wood and placing a new order to keep us in logs for the winter and leaf gathering. I have had a nasty outbreak of fungus gnats in the soil of some of pot plants.. most especially the little box of cuttings from my streptocarpus which I last posted here. They are almost large enough to transplant but I have had to push the pot outside for a couple of days.. the gnats didn't leave so I have washed off their tiny little roots and transplanted them into new soil in the hope the gnats do not return.. if they do I will get the sticky traps out again (if I can find them), hopefully I can blip the babies soon once I know if they have survived the rather brutal treatment I have given them today.
Our daughter has headed off for a jolly weekend with friends and little Jasper has stayed with us.. soon they will both migrate back to the boat in its new mooring.. we will miss having them around and all those projects I thought I might end up doing with her over the winter (suspected the river might have held on to her all through till the spring so she would be homeless till then) will go on the back burner.. except for the quilt I think as she is very keen to help with it. We will book in a day to get it started and also to go and choose the top for it to go onto and the backing fabric.. she will probably own the quilt longer than me in its finished form so might as well have her make those choices with me.
