Pointing Out The Shambles, Sevenoaks

Another day and another micro trip to somewhere we haven't been for a long time, Sevenoaks. When we were kids, for some reason lost in the mists of time, we went there at Christmas for a festive meal at the same restaurant every year followed by a wander round the beautiful Knole Park. The shopping for presents part of those trips, though, usually ended stressfully as one of us would not be able to find gifts for our siblings!
We had a quick walk along the length of the High Street but it all felt a bit lifeless. However, in the centre of town is a delightfully characterful pedestrianised area with an equally charming name - The Shambles! It's an attractive area where many of the buildings have medieval roots and a complex history of use. This leads to many sharp corners and odd angles. Going round one of the sharp corners we came across this courtyard covered with murals and panels. They represent some of the trades that were present there during the medieval period and were designed by the artists Juliet Simpson and Tom Cousins. I couldn't capture the whole courtyard but liked this angle and how all the hands sort of tie the image together. Of course, we had to have a pint while we were there so it seemed appropriate to head to the pub in The Shambles as it was called The Restoration!
