Friday fun

Today we went on an architectural tour by boat circumnavigating Manhattan Island. It was really interesting, guided by an architect who was very knowledgeable and gave a great historical perspective. It was a wonderful way to spend three hours. The Statue of Liberty may be a photographic cliché but I was happy to get her in the frame from a bobbing boat.

After that we walked a section of the High Line, a former rail road, repurposed for parkland. It was very crowded but not as much as the Brooklyn Bridge a few days ago.

The last activity of the day was a visit to the vastly expanded Whitney Museum of American Art. I loved the collection I remembered from my last visit to New York, before the Whitney moved to its current location in Chelsea. Fortunately the collection was still there and added to. Its other exhibitions did not please so much

As we left we got into an unexpectedly groovy lift. See extra.
