That Will Do!

Beveridge Park

It's rather longer than we expected since our first visit but exactly five years have passed since I posted this photo of the fountain in Beveridge Park in Kirkcaldy.

Today we walked over the entire park (except for the Wizard's Walk) enjoying the many autumn trees and leaves to kick up, the polite greetings from everyone we met and the well-behaved dogs, of which there were many - we feel naked without one of our own.

The fountain is still playing, though not as enthusiastically as before but we found no evidence of the bandstand marked on the information board, perhaps we were expecting something too traditional. The community orchard of young trees situated at the end of Wizard's Walk appeared uncared-for but I note there is a Community Garden, called The Kaleyard, behind the adjacent stone wall.

One surprise was a flock of 20-odd curlew feeding with oystercatchers on the grass - they're the grey smudges on the photo - migrating down from the mountains to the coast. A minor scuffle broke out so they are still sorting themselves into pecking order.

As there is no café in the gardens we moved on to Morrison's for lunch, where the assistant pointed out their meal deal which entitled us to a free cake with our chosen items, offering and giving a box for me to bring it home!
