Life through the lens...

Snipe

So glad we decided to do the shopping yesterday.
Checking the weather forecast it looked to be better in East Yorkshire so decided to visit RSPB Blacktoft Sands, near Goole.
I don’t think we have been since Covid.

The weather was perfect. Warm, just a very slight southerly breeze and mainly sunny.
What a wonderful day for the first of November.

There were lots of teal. Looking magnificent with the sun shining on those beautiful bright green feathers.
Just one marsh harrier which was flying low over the reeds. Again looking good in the sunshine.
Other birds were shovelers, little grebes, mallards, and wigeon, but today’s star were the Snipe. I think we saw about 25. They are often difficult to spot as the blend in with their surroundings.
However the ones in my Blip photo were quite easy to see.

It is always a delightful place to visit. Never many visitors and so calm and peaceful in beautiful countryside.
Very enjoyable day.
