The North Cape

Slept very badly last night, maybe because we crossed open water quite a lot and, despite lying down the mixture of queasiness and Adrenalin kept waking me up.  Or maybe it was the Espresso martini I had in the Tromso cocktail bar!

Anyway we didn’t have much to do except sail into the harbour at Honningsvag and then get on a bus to the North Cape, the furthest northern part of the European landmass.  It was beginning to snow, the first of winter we were told as the bus wound its way up to the visitor centre.  We didn’t spend long out by the monument as the icy blast stung our eyes even when we we were all wrapped up.  We couldn’t even see the sea below as the mist was freezing and thick.  So we went inside and watched a film about a year in the North Cape, for an international crowd so no dialogue just beautiful photography. Only slightly marred by the Chinese tourists sitting in front of us filming the whole film.

We came out to a beautiful sunset, at 2.25pm over the car park and drove back to the boat setting off for the next leg of the journey.   A delicious final meal.
