Ribblehead train station
In North Yorkshire, it looked rather cheerful with its welcoming signs and red paint. Information about its history is displayed in rooms inside which also serve as a cafe. The Ribblehead Viaduct (the murky extra) is behind me. The station was completed in 1876.
The viaduct took a few years to build at a cost of about 100 lives, commenced in 1869 and train services started in 1876 linking the small town of Settle and the cathedral city of Carlisle as rail services between London and Scotland were being expanded.
Weather - low cloud / mist, with intermittent light rain, temp about 11 degrees C.
