Life is a Challenge!

ALL PINKED OUT...

...for BCAM 2024 - we did it - we clicked and clicked and clicked some more - so HUGE THANKS to all of you who clicked - and to end the month, please click as many times as you can today on this LINK.

So as another Pinktober comes to an end, whilst I am relieved to know I don’t have to look for any more pink at least for another year, I am mindful of the fact that for many women - and men - their journey is still ongoing.

They can’t just say “Well, October is over and we don’t have to worry” so I would encourage you to click as many times as you can over the next year - so that those, mostly in other countries, who cannot afford to pay for a mammogram, may have a free one.  That would be amazing!

I’m sure many of us know of someone whose life has been touched and changed by a breast cancer diagnosis - so don’t let’s get complacent about this and do please be “breast aware” and check yours regularly.

Just a few facts about breast cancer in the UK in 2024:

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK with a woman being diagnosed with it every 10 minutes and a man every day.

80% of breast cancer cases are in women over 50.

5-10% of women with breast cancer are thought to have an inherited gene that increases that risk.

Screening prevents about 1,300 deaths from breast cancer each year in the UK.

In the 1990s more than 1 in 7 people died from breast cancer - today it is 1 in 20.

It's Thursday, so I am off to the Community Fridge soon and then our son is coming to visit this afternoon, so wanted to get my Blip done early.  Have a great day whatever you are doing.  M xx

“And once the storm is over,
     you won’t remember
          how you made it through,
               how you managed to survive.
You won’t even be sure
whether the storm is really over.
But one thing is certain -
when you come out of the storm,
you won’t be the same person
               who walked in.
That’s what this storm is all about.”
