Living my dream

Dead centre of the village

I gave Bean a quick spin around the village cemetery this morning on my way to G's garden, and spotted these fabulous clouds. Lenticularis dropping out of the higher cloud layer.

G and I had a chatty two hours chasing and pulling out twitch grass ropes roots from under the peastraw mulch in her herbaceous beds. There is something satisfying about work like that, and it was especially enjoyable in good company.

Among (many) other things we touched on the US election and the immigration debate, about which we both feel confused. So it was a happy coincidence that I listened to a New York Times podcast while I ate lunch, explaining the history of US immigration, and of immigrants. The first half of the podcast was particularly illuminating for me. I had no idea the current chaotic immigration policy has its main (tap?) roots in legislation initiated by JFK.

Grass control season is in full swing and my afternoon was filled with line-trimming and mowing, with some weeding thrown in for good measure.

I have a heap of borage, nigella and snapdragon to plant in the flower beds, but a serious few days of weeding is required first. I have made a start...

Oh, and I put up the cane wigwams ready for the climbing beans to be planted beneath them early next week. Extra.

A happy busy day...
