Today's the day

Lockerbie Station

Today's the day . . . . . . . . . . to await the train

I've just been to Lockerbie to pick up Will from the train and bring him home.

It's an hour's drive from here to Lockerbie - and when you get there, you have the distinct feeling that you're in the middle of nowhere.   There's very few people about in the streets of the little town - and the station, although brightly lit has a definite 'tumbleweed' air about it.  I'm the only person on the platform.  It's alright though, because the train he's on is on the illuminated sign - and it's on time.

And then, just when you think you've got it all wrong and you're in some parallel universe - the sleek futuristic train appears out of the darkness - and glides to a halt.
.
For a minute or so, the doors open - and what seems like hundreds of people disgorge themselves on to the platform with all sorts of suitcases and other luggage.  You have to fight your way up the staircase, over the bridge, down the other side - and out the exit.

And within another few minutes, the masses have disappeared - and peace descends once more . . . . . . . . .
