West Coast
The wee ones were feeling the burn today, so we took a mini road trip to the West Coast of Cumbria.
Alighting first on the shores of Millom where we sat in the back of Big Blue with the doors open and devoured our packed lunch. Then it was back on the road with yet another re-listen of Cabin Pressure as we took in the sights and made our way up to Whitehaven for a stroll around the Marina to pick out which boat we would have and then a nice hour or so around the Beacon Museum.
We had a couple of games of Round Merrils (extra) where I was delighted to find a game that I could finally beat the children at! With them needing a refuel, we had our second disappointing hot chocolate of the week and headed up to see the exhibition of wildlife photography, which was simply stunning. The images that some people are able to capture is jaw-dropping. I’ve put our favourites in extras (photos by: Joan de la Malla, Jason Gulley and Larry Taylor).
After that, we ventured down onto the beach for a brief spell, where I snapped today’s shot and The Youngest found a fairly sizeable dead fish (I think it was a dogfish).
We headed for home and marvelled at beauty of the sunset over the hills and collapsed back at my parents for a catch up and a welcome tea of bangers and mash!
