Prickly

I came across this thistle blooming beautifully in the middle of the track above Kildavie where Bertie and I were enjoying a peaceful Sunday morning walk. Apart from Coll, the islands were more or less hidden from us by a thin veil of mist but I could make out the vague outline of Rum. As we walked, I could hear a bit of squawking and it took me a few seconds to work out that the sound was coming from above; a V of six swans were heading  in a westerly direction and I stood and watched them until they were out of sight.
I really appreciated the change of the hour as it meant that it was daylight when I rose from my slumber.
Later in the morning, Nick, Bertie and I went over to the Dervaig Community Orchard where we held our AGM, followed by an hour of work to tidy things up for the winter.
After a quick bite of  lunch I went off to church then spent a couple of hours back at home preparing a meal for friends C and T who were coming to eat with us because they are without a kitchen at the moment.
