Around Cambridge
Yesterday’s visit to Cambridge only allowed time for the service in King’s, so we return today to take an audio tour of the city. We’ve visited fleetingly at various times in the past. My first visit was as a student when the UEA Welsh Society played rugby against the Cambridge University Welsh Society. We had mixed teams - pretty adventurous for the ‘70’s - but I must admit I spent most of the game trying to avoid the ball as I just didn’t want to get tackled! Not surprisingly, we lost!
So this is our first time to ‘tour’ the city - and the first time to use a’Voice Map’ audio tour, and it doesn’t disappoint. Unfortunately the weather is the opposite of yesterday, grey replacing blue and drizzle replacing sunshine. Still, we complete the tour, return to the car, and start the journey home.
This is our first long journey in our electric car. So far, we’ve broken journeys into bite-size pieces, but today we have the whole trek home. We’ve charged the car in the car park while going around the city, but we need to stop for a full charge using an ultra fast charger, and G finds a bank of them outside Kettering. Here there is the ‘luxury’ of a Costa where we can sit for an hour, but we find it’s closed - but for the drive -through which we use on foot, then sit in the car until it’s sufficiently charged! The joy of driving an EV!
Anyway, we make it home, unpack, sort out the washing and crash in front of the television! It’s been a good two weeks, but it’s nice to be home!
My main today’s not one of the most iconic buildings or colleges, but I just liked this shot of St Peter’s Church. And in extras, there’s another collage of scenes from our morning’s tour.
Thanks again for following along, and for your stars, hearts and comments. I’m gradually catching up with journals but I’m sure you understand comments might be very brief and hearts very much rationed!
