Executive Assistant
There’s this thing that has been gnawing at me for a few days now.
Remembering my Hamilton “I wrote my way out” of it. Not for the first time did the words of Lin-Manuel Miranda come to my aid.
It was soon up and at ‘em, as The Youngest and I set to tidying up the tiny patch of front yard. The windows needed a clean and the flower bed a tidy up, so she focussed on the windows (doing an amazing job) and I worked on the flower bed (performed an adequate job).
Despite the fact that it is such a small area, it took a surprising amount of time, but was rewarding nonetheless. In the meantime, m’boy headed off into town to get some football cards - they really do grow up so fast.
The main feature of the afternoon was a couple of hours down at rehearsal working on a very physical scene, so I was delighted to find Samm there who was completely hungover from a silent disco the night before. She did well to get through it.
The Youngest always wants to come with me - I worry that she’ll get bored - and we had a quick tour of the backstage area and the director showed her how we bring in the painted backdrops. She loves it and I hope she’ll get involved one day and I can sit in the audience and watch her!
She would later comment how I seemed “less stressed” and “more free” at rehearsals. I was at once impressed that she’d picked up on that yet also concerned regarding the stress levels I must be showing at home! I’ve decided to take her on as my Executive Assistant.
Good fun afternoon followed by a lazy evening.
