Watching the Carnival

I was a little bit perturbed when I was told that the Moulton Carnival was this afternoon because I wanted to watch the football.
I was wondering why the planners of this event picked today, KNOWING that it is Cup Final day. We phoned Scarlet about the arrangements, and she told us that her and the the whole village has a planned power outage this afternoon.
OK, so that means the electricity company planned to cut off the electricity to coincide with the village carnival AND the cup final. MADNESS.

Anyway, it turned out that the carnival was timed to end at 2:30 (time to get home for the kick-off), and the electricity was due to be back on at 3:00.
This meant that everybody could see the carnival and watch the footy.
I still thought it strange that they would cut the electricity for the Fete - but it turned out that the village had electricity all day - they just cut the electricity to Scarletts house <Chortle>.
