New garden project in motion

The roof of one of the garden sheds is no longer waterproof. The felt is mostly gone, it's disintegrating, and it's on the verge of collapsing.

The rest of the shed, it seems, is relatively sound.

My very generous and kind neighbour Dave has helped me with various things in the garden this year, and more generally has helped the family with various jobs in the garden and on the house over the years (cleaning gutters, for instance). I'm so grateful for his help!

One of the things we've talked about, for several months now, is replacing the shed's ruined roof. And he has offered to help me with it, and given my very limited skills in this area, this means that Dave will be helping by doing the bulk of the work. It'll be quite a big job, by my standards.

This week, it seems, is the week for it – tomorrow heralds a dry and relatively-warm spell. It's great that we'll be able to get it sorted before winter sets in, fingers crossed.

Today we took measurements and went to purchase some necessary supplies. The photo shows Dave unloading some of the 1.5-inch square planks from Wickes that we'll need for supporting the new roof. The OSB boards should be delivered soon. We hope they come tomorrow morning, in which case we'll get started pretty much straight away.

Apart from this excitement, I've had a quiet day during which I've felt rather tired. I don't have much to report.

Thanks Dave!
