a lifetime burning

Pesky Grey

Unfortunately two new unsavoury characters seem to have moved into the neighbourhood this Autumn - a pair of furry tree rats, or Grey Squirrels as they are better known.  The pesky creatures have been stripping the tips of the holly tree branches, so that it is now largely denuded of berries.  Back in September the tree had a magnificent crop of red berries but not any longer.  Hopefully they haven't done the tree any damage.  But it does mean that there will be no berries in our garden for any of the migratory thrush family that overwinter in the UK.

Our bird feeders are squirrel proof designs, and to date, there is no sign that the squirrels have been able to get at them, so at least we are not encouraging them into the garden as such.

I wouldn't normally feature a squirrel - as you can tell I'm not overly fond of them.  But I've been busy and this was the only bit of wildlife that I managed to get a camera lens on, during the short time that I had for photography today.  Despite that, its not a bad result considering the available light and the ISO.
