Beginning To Live The Christian Life
We gathered at FBC this morning on another beautifully bright fall day ready to worship and praise God for Who He is and all the ways He has blessed us and to encourage one another with the news of possible rain by the end of the week. We began with a song of corporate worship followed by the welcome from Pastor Wes. The choir, orchestra and all our talented accompanists presented a heart-felt rendition of "It Is Well With My Soul" and if you have never heard or read the powerful story behind that song, I urge you to look it up. The congregation joined in for a few more songs, before Pastor Wes took us to Ephesians 5:1-2, where Paul tells the Ephesian believers to be imitators of Christ as we seek to grow in our relationship with God and minister to our broken world. Pastor Wes went on to say that we need to grow in relationship with Jesus, because we cannot imitate someone we do not know, nor will we imitate someone we do not like, but we will imitate those we love. He also reminded us that God's love for us is not something we can ever earn or be worthy of, but we should allow that love of God to fill us to overflowing so that we can love those in our local church body, those who are a part of the global church and all those who need to come to Jesus by grace through faith for salvation. Pastor Wes had much more to say about this and you can see it on the Live-stream. As you can see, we have also set our church goal for the number of Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes, and that number doesn't include the boxes we process for other churches in our area. Have you packed your shoe box yet? We also had a community outreach event called Harvest Fest this evening, so I included one shot from that event showing one activity we had for the kids to do......This is the last Sunday of Pinktober, and there are bits of pink in my collage, so I would ask you to click on the link below to help fund mammograms for those who cannot afford to pay. https://thebreastcancersite.greatergood.com/clicktogive/bcs/home
