Wanna fight?

"Wanna make something of it?" asks one stag beetle, rearing onto his back legs.

"Not me," says the other male stag beetle prudently. "I have a train to catch!"

..and legs it.

There must have been a female somewhere close singing her siren pheremone song, but I didn't see her.

Across the country stag beetle numbers are falling- but round here they are pretty commonplace in June and July. However, I still make sure I report each one to the Great Stag Hunt - and this time I also sent them this photo
