Umpiring
Loch Tummel Freshwater sprint is the last regatta of the season - a bit of an oddity for a coastal rowing association. The format is also very different from other regattas in that the crews are made up on the day from members of different clubs, so you end up rowing with people you don't know, in a boat that you are not used to. It is quite fun and very sociable.
I wasn't racing due to my shoulder, so I toyed with the idea of coxing a crew but in the end, I decided to focus on umpiring - putting yesterday's course into practice. I ended spending time at the start (and starting a race), the finish and on the rib at the turn of the race. It was really interesting, but I felt a bid sad not to be taking part in the races... and I got really cold! Still, a beautiful, fun and sociable day - and autumn in this part of the world is stunning.
