Soft Palette
This is a beautiful time of the year in this part of the US - the colors are past peak but still beautiful. Right now, there are some bushes in the woods that are a lovely pinkish shade - they are, unfortunately, a non-native species, but I'm tolerant because of the colors they show this time of year. I didn't adjust the colors in this image - the pinkish tones of the house finch worked perfectly with the pinkish tones of the foliage.
Peg, Hubs and I had a fab dinner last night and then Peg and I stayed up late chatting. We slept late this morning and then enjoyed some overnight oats. While she was freshening up, I grabbed a few shots in the garden, this among them. Never got around to posting it so am now back-posting a day later.
Kura and Ellen arrived around lunch time, and Ellen came bearing sushi so we all had lunch. Then we settled in for some dominoes and talk - very fun. Some Prosecco was consumed (not by me, alas) and then it was time to open the slow cooker and dish up the chuck roast that I'd cooked. I almost never cook roasts so it was a great surprise to me that it came out perfect - tender and delicious. I cooked it with potatoes, onions and carrots so all we needed to add was a leafy green salad and some crusty bread - perfect. And at dinner, I treated myself to some red wine. It is really a nice treat for me to have a glass of wine these days. Ellen had to drive home as she had a flight out early tomorrow, and the rest of us were upstairs and in bed by 10. I can remember when Peg and I used to live in the City and wouldn't even leave our apartments to go out for the evening until at least 9:30! Oh, to be young(er).
Brownies.
