Lord Nelson at Brixham

Another walk to Brixham on a perfect morning, starting at the Cafe Venus at Broadsands where the Whooper Swan was still on the sea. Brixham was a popular destination. Even the Plymouh Chapter of the Harley Davidson owners club decided to pay a visit and decorate the harbour wall parking some amazing bikes. EXTRA
We discovered another new mural is being painted next to the Long Bar, on Union Lane. This one commemorates Lord Admiral Horatio Nelson, who was stationed in Brixham in 1801 when the fleet used the port as a base to prepare for the Battle of Copenhagen. He wrote a letter to his lover Lady Hamilton from Brixham on the birth of their love child. Look forward to blipping the finished work.
We cut the walk short today. Wanted to get back to listen to Johnnie Walker’s last Sounds of the Seventies programme. We raised a glass later.
