Fused magnesia

Day 14
It was an early start, a 3,5 hour coach trip to Haicheng, which was an area completely covered by magnesia mines and processing plants, we saw the largest magnesia mine in the world. Everything is very dusty, from talc and magnesia mining. The blip shows the fused magnesia plant. The rock is heated to 2800 degC to fuse it. It’s then used to make refractory bricks for iron and steel making. We had lunch on the biggest spinning round table I’ve ever seen. Some nice dishes, many that I didn’t even try!
We were back by 19.00, and then 4 of us met soon after for dinner. We went to a Mongolian hot pot restaurant. A lot of chili and lamb and beef, too much meat but good fun and nice sauces. We walked around a kind of outside food alley, seafood through to brightly colored sweeties.I had an early night, ready for another early start.
