During the interval

Took this snap through a wide open door without leaving my seat. The Assembleia Legislativa da Madeira was packed this evening, with people standing at the back. Hearing the Madeiran Orquestra Clássica is a favourite occasion whenever we visit. They are superb!

Tonight a young guest violinist - Mathieu van Bellen - played as if Mozart's notes were liquid: Concerto for Violin No.5 in A major. The maestro (conductor) was the energetic Luis Andrade.

My photo is literally a quick snap in poor focus but it includes the first violinist. We recognise the same faces since we first heard them in 2005.

The second half of the concert was Schubert's  Symphony No. 8 in B minor, followed by Beethoven: König Stephan Overture Op. 117.

Buses there and back (getting good at this) and a later-than-usual supper on our return. See Extra. As we ate we puzzled over why the orchestra no longer performs in the theatre. Mind you, a new building is underway, especially for their use - they'll have their own home.
