Clever engineering work

Today we visited the old town of Freiburg with the group and also wanted to take the old funicular railway. Believe it or not, the railway is operated using the city's wastewater.

As described on internet:
The ‘Funiculaire’ in Fribourg has been included in the inventory of national cultural assets. It is one of the last funicular railways in the whole of Europe to be powered by the city's waste water, which it uses as drive ballast.
The crunching and clattering of the cogwheels of the century-old railway is worth a diversion, as these sounds gradually accompany you into the depths of the city's soul: The ‘Funiculaire’ was and still is the link between the lower town and the centre of Freiburg ... between history and modernity ... a true symbol!
