It's all about the
bison today...Antelope
Island Park for fun!
~carliewired
It is a low key day for us. Luckily, it's a brilliant blue sky, sunny day to enjoy Antelope Island State Park in the Great Salt Lake near Layton, Utah.
It happens to be the time when the bison herd is culled each year. There was a bumper to bumper line up for a mile to get into the park this morning. We began to worry there'd been some kind of accident or misfortune as we inched along the roadway leading to the park gate. No. It was just a mob wanting to see what was going on at the park. The few narrow drives around the island were overloaded with lookers like us trying to get some photos of the bison.
A very large collection of trucks, horse trailers, horses and riders were also present. They congregated near the Fielding Ranch at the south end of the island. We could see riders along the hillsides following the trails.
My friend and I drove slowly and managed to squeeze in to catch a few bison on the range. I was as interested in the photographers as I was in the bison.
My feet are killing me today, even though they really got the day off. We might expect to be at the Outback restaurant just down the street tonight. I thought that should amuse my Australian friend.
The wifi is the pits at this hotel. They are not going to like my Tripadvisor report.
