Fruits of Our Labors
We had a hard time donning gardening clothes this morning. Hubby was up by 6:00, prayed and had breakfast. He’d fallen asleep while praying so I tried to make my breakfast quietly. I filled all the bird feeders and headed to the front porch with my coffee, donut and banana breakfast. Hubby awoke, packed for our trip and joined me on the porch. We decided to “set realistic expectations” for today’s accomplishments. I have a tendency to keep adding “one more thing” which rushes us at the end of the day. We stopped in time to clean off the dirt, have lunch, rest a bit and still get to Mass on time. But we made much progress. I should have made photos of before and after to give you an idea of the improvement. The walk/patio is the biggest change. You’d never have guessed there was a pink tint in the concrete. I called my mother while trimming the last three pots to go to the basement. She finally agreed to go to the doctor for a physical. My sister and I have begged her about that for weeks. My sister will make the appointment and take her if it’s while we are away. We are taking tomorrow off from the garden since it is Sunday. We will get back out there on Monday. Hopefully, we can finish around the gazebo and gardens on the perimeter of the raised bed garden. If we get the cold temps that are forecast for tomorrow night, I’ll also pull up my tomato and pepper plants that will be ruined. I still have one flower pot with blooms for the last few butterflies. This blue salvia is supposed to be an annual but is came back this spring and has bloomed most of the summer. Wishing you flowers to brighten your day. Stay safe. Thanks again for leaving so many gifts on my pages. “In his garden, every man may be his own artist without apology or explanation.” —Louise Beebe Wilder
