Stobo Day 2

With such a big meal last night it wasn’t t surprising that sleep didn’t come easily and when  the alarm went off at 6:30. I called it a day and went for a very early morning swim. The only other person in the pool was daughter # 3, the other daughters sensibly not appearing until breakfast at 8am.

Three daughters left at 9am for an 18k walk on the John Buchan way while daughter#1 and I drove to Kirkton to pick up two very large gilded frames  which she is going to fix. We went into Peebles for petrol and managed a walk along the river before returning to Stobo to do the scenic walk to the Altar stone. It was the most beautiful day, sunny and mild with no coats required and the scenery was breathtakingly beautiful.

We managed to do justice to a salad lunch- there seems no limit to our ability to stuff ourselves with food and drink. There was more swimming after lunch and various steam rooms sat in before we relaxed into the outdoor hot tubs. It was fantastic to sit in hot water while the silver birch leaves were tumbling down around us.

We are forcing ourselves to finish the 3rd bottle of champagne at 4:30 before having cocktails at 6 pm just before dinner. It’s a hard life being a Stobo lady.
