Pictorial blethers

Grey day, bright evening

Very grey today - not real rain, though the odd drizzly shower, but low cloud and mist except for a bright patch on the hillside above the Holy Loch and another over Ayrshire away down river, where a band of light showed that elsewhere was having a better day than us.

To be honest, my day felt a bit grey - I didn't sleep at all well last night. I think I was cold - things improved when I remembered I'd left a window open and did something about it, and I was well enough asleep when it came time to wake up, but for most of the day I just felt wabbit (is that a word in use anywhere else than in my sphere?) and had to force myself out for some air in the late afternoon. We did some singing practice, and I did quite a bit of Italian, and we both fell asleep after lunch ...

By way of contrast, we had a lovely evening. We took a couple of friends from church and their wee boys out for a dinner in Chatters by way of saying thank you for the help one of them gave us in the aftermath of the cruise that never was, and the surroundings, the food, the staff and the company had their usual effect of totally changing my mood. The collage shows my venison fillet (perfection!) with mashed sweet potato and red cabbage with broccoli, my chocolate biscuit cake with raspberry coulis, coffee in a tiny, delicate cup and the restaurant as we left - it's next door to Morrisons, in an old cottage, and it's a gem.

And did I mention we had champagne?
